FIREFLY focuses on the following challenges:
- Understanding the special features and needs of senior citizens as virtual visitors and adapting and optimising the provided cultural services.
- Understanding how older people respond to digital heritage environments.
- Recording of various indicators with the help of BCIs and quantitative and qualitative research methods related to the humanities, in order to study the ways in which emotional and mental responses are elicited by the elderly.
- Designing, testing, and evaluating different ways of mediating between elderly visitors and digital heritage, with the aim of maximising the degree of engagement, satisfaction and meaning.
- Exploring and identifying ways in which cultural heritage can become more attractive to seniors and develop flexible ways, in which cultural institutions ‘target’ visitors and present their cultural content.
