Styliani Sylaiou

Principal Investigator and Project Coordinator

Stella Sylaiou is an assistant professor at the Department of Surveying Engineering and Geoinformatics of the International Hellenic University. Her research focuses on the fields of Virtual Heritage, Digital Culture, and Experimental Museology.

Konstantinos Evangelidis

Cultural Heritage – XR

Konstantinos Evangelidis is a full Professor in Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering Department of the International Hellenic University serving the discipline of “Web-centric Information Systems and Geographic Databases”. He holds BSc/MSc in Physics, an MSc in Informatics and a PhD in Geoinformatics. His research experience, focused during last decade in 3D geospatial visualizations in Mixed Reality immersive environments.

Konstantinos Papatheodorou

Photogrammetry

Konstantinos Papatheodorou, is a Professor in Applied Geology & Geoinformatics, Director of the Geoinformatics Engineering (GEnie) Lab, International Hellenic University. His research focuses on geoinformatics science and technologies including remote sensing, GIS and surface and subsurface mapping.

Efstratios Stylianidis

Aerial photogrammetry

Prof. Efstratios Stylianidis is affiliated with the School of Spatial Planning and Development in the Faculty of Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He currently serves as the Director of the Laboratory of Geoinformatics. His teaching and research interests encompass Photogrammetry and Geospatial Engineering. Prof. Stylianidis served as the President of CIPA – Heritage Documentation from 2020 to 2023 and currently holds the position of Vice President for the new term. His multifaceted contributions underscore his commitment to advancing knowledge in Geoinformatics and Heritage Documentation. 

Angeliki Antoniou

Adaptation of XR for the elderly

Angeliki Antoniou is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Archival, Library & Information Studies at the University of West Attica. She is a collaborating researcher at the ATHENA Research Center and at the Department of Information Studies at the University College London. She holds a degree in Preschool Education from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, a degree (BSc) in Clinical with Social Psychology (University of Kent at Canterbury, UK), a postgraduate degree (MSc) in Human Interaction with Ergonomics (University College London, UK), a music degree, a Piano Diploma, as well as a PhD in Educational Technologies from the University of Peloponnese, Department of Computer Science and Technology.

George Pavlidis

Artificial Intelligence

George Pavlidis holds a Diploma and a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is a Research Director at the Athena Research Center, heading the Speech, Media and Content Technologies Department, at the Institute for Language and Speech Processing. His research focuses on digital image and multimedia technologies, content analysis and retrieval, machine learning and artificial intelligence, 3D digitization, and cross-reality applications.

Vasileios Sevetlidis

Artificial Intelligence

Vasileios Sevetlidis studied Computer Engineering, where he was taught the concepts of Information Theory, Algorithms, Image Analysis and Software Engineering. He is a research associate at the Athena Research Center. He is currently working on emerging technologies applied to Multimedia. He is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Production and Management Engineering, Democritus University of Thrace. His research focuses on Machine Learning, Artificial and Computational Intelligence.

Vasileios Arampatzakis

Artificial Intelligence

Vasileios Arampatzakis is a research associate at the Athena Research Center and Ph.D. Candidate at the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the Democritus University of Thrace. In 2017 he received his MEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering and in 2019, his MSc degree in Advanced Technologies of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Democritus University of Thrace. His scientific interests include digital image processing, computer vision, machine learning, 3D digitization and reconstruction, and document processing.

Damianos Dumi Sigalas

Position

Damianos Dumi Sigalas is a recent graduate in Computer Engineering from the University of Patras. He is currently a research associate with the Interactive Technologies Lab in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the same university. During his studies, he cultivated a strong interest in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and User Experience (UX) research. Damianos brings a blend of practical insights from his user research experience, acquired in both industrial settings and academic environments.

Ioannis Tavantzis

Position

Mr. Ioannis Tavantzis is an Urban Planning & Development engineer and a PhD candidate specializing in Geoinformatics and Smart Cities at the Laboratory of Geoinformatics (LabGeo), School of Spatial Planning and Development, Faculty of Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He is actively engaged in both national and EU-funded research and innovation projects, including Horizon 2020 and Erasmus+ initiatives. He also participated in the implementation team of a Marie Skłodowska-Curie research project as a visiting PhD Candidate at Northeastern University in the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs, Boston MA. His contributions extend to co-authoring several publications, as well as serving as an assistant project manager for Laboratory of Geoinformatics, AUTh.

Zoi-Eirini Tsifodimou

Position

Mrs. Zoi-Eirini Tsifodimou holds a MEng in Rural and Surveying Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh). She is a postgraduate student in the Spatial Planning for Sustainable and Resilient Development program. Her research interests focus on the applications of cartography, spatial analysis and mainly the visualization of historical information. She is a research assistant at the Laboratory of Geoinformatics (AUTh) and she deals with 2D and 3D land survey, with laser scanning and photogrammetry techniques, energy renovation on residential buildings and accessibility of public buildings.

Alexandros Skondras

Position

Mr. Alexandros Skondras holds a BSc in Architecture and a MSc in Sustainability Design from the Politecnico di Torino. He is a PhD Candidate and a researcher at the Laboratory of Geoinformatics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki at the School of Spatial Planning and Development where he implements National and EU funded research and innovation projects. His research focuses on the use of UAVs for the collection, visualization, processing and presentation of spatial information as tools for strategic planning in the fields of urban planning and sustainable development.
